Privacy Policy
This page is maintained by Margn to explain what data we collect from your Shopify store and connected ad accounts, how we use it and the choices you have. Plain English first, lawyer second.
1. Who we are
Margn is a real-time profit dashboard for Shopify brands, operated by Margn, Inc. ("Margn", "we", "us"). If you are a store owner using Margn, you are the "Customer" and, for personal data of your shoppers, we act as a processor on your behalf.
2. Data we collect
- Account data. Name, work email, password hash, store URL, billing details.
- Shopify data. Orders, refunds, discounts, shipping, gateway fees, products, variants, inventory and customer identifiers required to calculate profit.
- Advertising data. Aggregate and campaign-level spend, impressions, clicks and conversions from Meta Ads, Google Ads and TikTok Ads via their official APIs.
- Cost data you enter. COGS, supplier costs, custom fees and any notes you add manually.
- Product usage. Pages viewed inside Margn, features used and diagnostic logs to keep the app reliable.
We do not sell personal data and we do not use your store data to train third-party AI models.
3. How we use it
- To calculate and display your real-time net profit.
- To sync and reconcile data between Shopify and your ad platforms.
- To generate AI insights inside your account (processed to deliver the feature, not shared externally).
- To provide customer support and improve the product.
- To bill you and prevent fraud or abuse.
4. Legal bases
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (delivering the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (security, product improvement) and, where required, your consent (for example for optional analytics).
6. Retention
We keep your synced Shopify and ad data for as long as your account is active so historical dashboards keep working. If you close your account, we delete or anonymize customer data within 90 days, except where we must keep records for legal or accounting reasons.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to a small number of engineers on a need-to-know basis, protected by SSO and hardware keys. We maintain an incident response process and will notify affected customers without undue delay if a qualifying breach occurs.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@margn.app. For requests about shopper data, contact the Margn Customer (the store) directly; we will support them in responding.
10. International transfers
Margn is a global product. Where we transfer data outside your region, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards approved by the relevant authority.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or an in-app banner before they take effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
